Mission: Malawi Feeding Malawi.

Our goal is to feed Malawi with fair food practices that better the positions of Malawian farmers by putting more money back into farmers’ pockets as they pursue sustainable farming practices. Uplifting farmers, their families, and communities.

Invest in a solution that’s working.

By investing in farmers’ dreams, we are creating more possibilities for families, communities and Malawi. Leveraging our abundant resources, Malawi possesses the capability to not only meet the food needs of its citizens, but also to supply neighbouring countries. Investment enables us to help farmers leverage technology, access vital inputs and intelligence, and establish competitive marketplaces within rural communities. These farmers will not only contribute to national food security but also drive self-investment, which is essential for the growth and prosperity of rural Malawi.

Growing opportunities sustainably.

Respect

We uphold the principle that every individual, regardless of differences, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Open Communication

As a community-focused enterprise, we prioritise transparent and open communication that fosters learning and personal growth among all stakeholders.

Every Voice
Counts

We value the perspectives and contributions of each beneficiary and collaborator within GGEM, recognising that every voice holds equal importance in shaping our collective efforts.

Collaboration

GGEM’s success is rooted in collaboration, as we understand that meaningful progress requires the active involvement of diverse stakeholders. We work hand in hand with all our partners to uplift communities and achieve shared goals.

Integrity

Driven by a passion for our work, we operate with unwavering integrity and ethical standards to earn the trust of the communities we serve.

Hard Work

At the core of our mission is a commitment to excellence in agriculture, which demands both physical and mental diligence. We believe in the adage "you reap what you sow" and strive to combine hard work with smart strategies for the betterment of our communities.

How we work, works for farmers.

GGEM is the farmer’s Marketplace. Our farmers thrive because we partner with investors who are as passionate about their growth as we are. In short, investment boosts their production capacity, and when farmers earn more, they self-invest more.

Incomes = Impact

We want to achieve fair market access for 1 million farmers in 10 years.

The only way to eradicate poverty in Africa, is from the ground up. Giving small-scale farmers access to a competitive marketplace, will positively affect millions of lives and unlock the incredible agricultural potential in Malawi, and in time, Africa.

A new marketplace that's competitive for all.

Whether you’re an investor or a potential buyer, you can make an incredible impact through GGEM Farming. We are reforming the way the agri-economy works by not only improving communities and their livelihoods, but also creating more opportunities for people to achieve their dreams. We do it by ensuring that every decision we make ultimately puts more money into farmers’ pockets. Our uncompromising approach creates a competitive playing field for all to participate in, and benefit from, Africa’s agricultural potential.

A connected world must be a fairer one.

Technology enables us to bridge the information, financing, logistics and market access gaps that drastically reduce farmer profitability, which keep hardworking farmers perpetually poor. Connect with us and let us talk about how we can work together.

Future-proofing the agri-economy.

Together we can make food value-chains good for farmers, the economy and our planet.

The harsh reality is that escalating temperatures pose a significant threat to various crop species, livestock health, and agricultural systems. Particularly vulnerable to these impacts are the poorest countries and communities, lacking the resources to adequately prepare for and rebound from both enduring shifts like rising temperatures and sea levels, and immediate shocks such as intensified storms and floods. Partnering with GGEM means you can be part of the solution by giving farmers access to a climate change plan they can put into action.

Our Climate Action Drive

Investing grows relationships and opportunities. Partnering with us will help to enable small-scale farmers to access a competitive and reliable marketplace, while giving the most vulnerable farmers access to climate solutions that will help ensure food production continuity for improved food security.

GGEM Food Production Investments

With your support we will be able to increase access to practical short, medium and long-term climate solutions geared towards increasing food production and food security. This access is key to helping farmers to thrive now, while waiting for longer term climate resilience measures to be established and flourish. Genuinely helping to keep communities and farmers’ dreams alive while navigating this new world of climate change.

GGEM’s Short Term Climate Initiative

Climate Tech, Training & Financing: Through our Climate Tech, Training and Financing initiative, we give farmers with high production potential the ability to invest in climate adaptation and mitigation technologies and tools. By providing targeted financing and training support, we grow their resilience in crop production, ensuring sustainable agricultural practices in the face of climate change.

Tree Parenting: We partner with farmers through the Tree Parenting program, co-investing in diversifying their agricultural incomes. By providing trees to initiate family orchards, farmers assume parental responsibilities to ensure high survival rates of 75% or more. This program embodies our commitment to Sustainable Agroforestry Systems, promoting soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem services. Additionally, Tree Parenting establishes resilient agroforestry systems, creating ecological and economic benefits in the short term while ensuring long-term sustainability as money goes back into farmers’ pockets with GGEM incomes.

Investing in Soil Health: We facilitate the practical application and adoption of agroecological principles that prioritise soil health and ecosystem resilience in agricultural systems. Recognising the substantial time investment, often exceeding five years, and the financial commitment required from farmers— including patience, the incorporation of biodegradable matter, and adhering to soil rest periods, all of which may limit immediate earning potential from their land. This support is essential for the short and medium-term as it continues to help farmers to affordably invest in improving and bettering their soil health.

Doing good is good business.

Putting money back into the pockets of farmers.

Access is key to making real and positive change in people’s lives. GGEM provides interest-free agricultural inputs, complemented by extension services, marketplace access and tailored financial literacy training. This comprehensive strategy aims to add to farmer livelihoods, by providing them with access to things they really need to thrive. These are essential resources that equip farmers with the financial, and in-field skills necessary for sustainable agricultural practices and long-term economic growth. Not just for farmers but for their families, their communities and ultimately the whole of Malawi.

GGEM Livelihood Impact

Enhanced Capacity

Local farmers demonstrate significant improvement in implementing climate-resilient agricultural practices, resulting in elevated crop yields, enhanced crop quality, and increased farmer incomes.

Resilience Building

Farmers strengthen their resilience against climate shocks by adopting sustainable farming techniques and utilising improved seed varieties, thereby safeguarding food security within vulnerable communities.

Enhanced Capacity

Improved farmer financial track records enable access to financial services, enabling farmers to invest more in essential tools, equipment, and inputs required for practicing climate resilient agriculture.

Bettering farming for all.

By investing in women farmers, we change Malawi.

At GGEM, we are committed to tackling financial exclusion of small-scale women farmers in Malawi. With a large portion of the population living below the poverty line and depending heavily on rain-fed agriculture, women farmers encounter considerable barriers in accessing financial services and resources. Our goal is to equip women farmers with the necessary tools, resources, and support to succeed in their agricultural pursuits. Partner with us today and be part of the positive change.

How we do it:

Enhanced Financial Literacy

We prioritise increasing financial literacy and capability amongst women farmers, connecting them to services that enable women to make informed financial decisions and manage their resources effectively.

GGEM advocates for the legal recognition of land rights for women farmers, guaranteeing their access to and control over land for agricultural activities.

We work towards expanding marketplace opportunities for women farmers, ensuring fair pricing and prompt payments for their produce. This not only boosts their economic opportunities but also fosters income generation for women in agriculture.

Women invest in their family health, education, and further diversification of family income through goal setting and saving. This is why we believe women are the best farmers. Their incomes fuel family welfare and economic growth sustainably.

Agri-economy growth is the key to food security.

Achieving food security is where lasting community development begins.

In pursuit of a food-secure future, GGEM is committed to sustainably feeding Malawi. Our mission centres on transforming agricultural practices to ensure the continuity of food production while enhancing climate resilience in the country. Employing a comprehensive approach, we address food security challenges by prioritising increased farmer productivity, promoting sustainable agriculture, and facilitating market access for farmers, buyers, and food logistics. Through these efforts, we strive to ensure increased access to affordable food for all.

Food Security Impact

Fair Food Relief Aid Network

GGEM’s Fair Food Relief Aid Network (FFRAN) delivers food relief aid packages and climate-smart agriculture inputs during times of crisis, bolstering community resilience and ensuring support for those in need.

A Trusted Marketplace

GGEM’s competitive Marketplace fosters transparency and accountability by being the off-taker that can guarantee a stable marketplace, and stable income generation opportunities for all our small-scale farmers.

Revolving Fund

Through GGEM’s Revolving Input Fund, we provide quality interest free inputs, promoting sustainable farming practices and enhancing productivity among farmers in key food production zones.

Translating data into possibilities.

The GGEM App supports farmers’ goals with real data and resources for a real chance at success.

Through our exclusive GGEM App, we streamline data collection and analysis, significantly enhancing our capacity to make data-driven decisions. This contributes not only to increased food production but also to improved food trade within the region.

Farmer Profiles

Step one: gather vital information and data to start growing with farmers who qualify. To begin the contracting process, we gather essential farmer data including names, locations, gender, dependent information, and historical farming data.

Step two: we vet each farmer’s farming assets. Then, we identify field coordinates, measure field size, as well as inspect field versus crop viability by assessing features that include soil health, slope and access to water.

Step three: we help farmers grow with tracking services for each harvest, as well as pre- and post-harvest advisory services, including facilitated access to digital banking and more.

Retailer Profiles

We believe in competitive food access for all. As food scarcity and costs continue to rise, GGEM ensures access to affordable food in Malawi through a network of retailers spanning the country.

To understand market dynamics and food crop value from season to season; GGEM has developed an information system that enables food crop price tracking. The data we collect is analysed and determines food-need projections for both food relief aid and the demand across the region and market.

GGEM Food Logistics ensure that our farmer produce is delivered when and where it is needed the most. Managing food transportation at scale enables us to track and work towards reducing the carbon footprint generated as our food travels from field to fork. Additionally, this system facilitates monitoring of inventory and off-taker dynamics, allowing us to leverage data for ongoing enhancements in food delivery efficiency.
